+ + + +All good books have their particular rumors.+ + + +
The Odyssey was written by a young Sicilian woman,
the Grimm brothers invented most of their stories instead of
collecting them, Euripides was bribed
by a wealthy Corinthian citizen in order that Medea's children
would not be butchered by his compatriots in the play,
and so on. Prudent people dodge these rumors,
and good books shun prudent people
unless they are intended to deride them or drive them mad,
always to no avail: prudent people, like pigs,
can eat everything almost without harm.
